Position Title: Manager of Financial Reporting and Accounts Receivable

Position Purpose:
The Manager of Financial Reporting and Accounts Receivable (FR/AR) is responsible to coordinate, develop, and manage the accurate and timely completion of various monthly financial management reports and presentations for internal leadership and the Board of Directors. This provides relevant financial information on which to base informed decisions effecting the direction and goals of the Cooperative and its subsidiaries. This position coordinates the preparation of quarterly financial statements in accordance with US generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) requirements. The incumbent oversees the annual audits performed by external auditors for Consolidated Basin Electric, Consolidated Dakota Gasification Company (DGC), Consolidated Dakota Coal Company (DCC), Missouri Basin Power Project (MBPP), and Souris Valley Pipeline Limited (SVPL) financial statements, which are prepared by financial reporting staff, including full disclosures and supplemental schedules. This position is responsible to manage the proper accounting and reporting for complex business processes and functions. The incumbent works collaboratively with management of several departments and researches accounting codification to ensure proper application of accounting and reporting requirements. This position is responsible for accurate recognition of all revenue and accounts receivable of the Cooperative and its subsidiaries. The incumbent continuously improves the financial reporting systems, processes, and policies to ensure financial reports are prepared in accordance with GAAP and FERC requirements and are supportive of the Cooperative and its subsidiaries’ goals and objectives. 

To perform effectively in this position, the incumbent must have knowledge of GAAP, financial and accounting theory and procedures, financial reporting methodologies, FERC accounting, and information systems at a level acquired through completion of a four-year degree in accounting, finance, or a business related field and 10 years of related professional accounting experience. Certification in public accountancy (CPA designation) is required. This position requires strong analytical skills, proficiency in personal computer operation, experience with accounting for regulated entities, reporting software (Access, Excel, Cognos), other information systems (Infor/Lawson, Asset Suite) and a good working knowledge of relational database concepts. Prior experience acting as a lead, or previous supervisory experience is required. The ability to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.  Knowledge of the Cooperative’s business philosophy and policies is preferred.

Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:
This position requires frequent sitting and standing/walking; and occasional reaching below and above shoulder level, use of keyboard/computer, bending, kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds. It also requires finger dexterity and hand coordination. This position requires good hearing and vision, and the ability to speak. It also requires the ability to develop plans, procedures and goals; present information to others; and work under stress to complete projects within deadlines.
