As part of its continuing efforts to improve audit quality, the AICPA's Governmental Audit Quality Center (GAQC) is providing an the opportunity to listen to a recently held GAQC Member Conference Call entitled, What You Should Know About the Proposed Revisions to Government Auditing Standards. The presenters are Jeanette Franzel and Marcia Buchanan of the Government Accountability Office (GAO). Normally, GAQC conference calls are limited to member firms. However, because of the pervasiveness of the proposed revisions to Government Auditing Standards (also known as the Yellow Book) and the potential implications for upcoming Yellow Book audits, the GAQC is making this call available to all. Please read the GAQC Alert below to learn more and for instructions on how to listen to the archived call.
Comments on the GAO exposure draft (ED) are due on August 15, 2006. We encourage you to review the proposal and submit comments to the GAO. The ED can be accessed on the GAO's Web site by clicking here. Instructions for providing feedback are included in the ED.
If your firm performs audits of not-for-profits, governmental entities, or for-profits that receive governmental assistance and you would like more information about membership in the GAQC, please visit the GAQC Web site. The GAQC is firm-based voluntary membership Center designed to help CPAs meet the challenges of performing quality governmental audits. Among the many member benefits that GAQC members receive are: (1) timely e-mail news alerts on latest developments, (2) a dedicated Center Web site that includes many resources; (3) webcasts and conference calls updating members on a variety of key topics relevant to performing these audits; and (4) an online member discussion forum.
