Firm Volunteer Center Opens Online to Assist Hurricane-Affected Firms

The AICPA’s Private Companies Practice Section (PCPS), with the assistance of the AICPA’s Audit Quality Centers and sections, has created an online database to help individual members and CPA firms affected by Hurricane Katrina. The online AICPA PCPS Firm Volunteer Center provides a central place to connect these firms and individuals with firms throughout the nation that wish to volunteer their resources and assistance.

You can access the database at http://pcps.aicpa.org/Community/Hurricane+Katrina.htm. Areas to list resources that you or your firm can offer are:

  • Office Space

  • Housing

  • Office Supplies and/or equipment

  • Technology

  • Hosting and/or software

  • Temporary Hiring of Staff from Affected Firm

  • Disaster Recovery -

  • Assistance in Reaching Clients of Affected Firm

  • Filings with governmental agencies

Once the database is populated with sufficient resources to meet the initial demand, firms affected by Katrina will be able to access the information. PCPS has taken the lead in developing this database, and all AICPA firms are invited to participate.

Also, remember to check the AICPA’s Hurricane Relief site on www.aicpa.org. It’s being updated regularly as new resources are identified.
